Built for a growing, young family in Seattle’s Phinney Ridge neighborhood, the striking 2,500 square foot Phinney Residence features a signature third-level living area that utilizes a 16-foot cantilever. Because of the structure’s small footprint, the main volume of the home rises above the street, making a gesture inward. The subtle shift of volume turns to access distant views, providing a buffer from a nearby intersection and spatial definition to the open-planned living space. A series of interconnected decks flow from the living and kitchen spaces, leading to an expansive rooftop deck and a breathtaking panoramic view of Ballard and the Puget Sound.
