Located in Fuentes del Pedregal, CDMX, Penthouse VA is 600 m2 residential project that stands out for harmony and contrast between materials working together in unison. This was posible due to the project’s fundamental design concept: The enveloping sensation. This spatial perception was achieved from the entrance thanks to the material selection and their specified design application in each space of the department. These elements accentuate the design and unify textures and spaces.
We’re looking at a 2.20 m tall space; an interior space that, despite its large bay windows, felt enclosed due to its proportions. We thought that the best course of action was to reverse this effect. It was achieved throughout the use of predomininant architectural elements and coatings surrounding floors, walls and ceilings, seeking to break the projects radical horizontality.
The department had been expanded after its construction, thus exposing all structural columns and makin them the space protagonists, hindering the visual cleanliness of the department.
These two morphological determining factors, led us to created predominant visual axis, (the stairs), where the design concept finds its climax; they differentiate spaces, floor levels, and accentuate walking halls.
