Peoples Bank is a cross-marketing facility that increases traffic for banking operations by providing “destination” products and services through retail establishments such as a cafe and a dry-cleaners. To support the overall concept and appeal to the target market, Bailey Edward’s design solution establishes a contemporary look on the exterior and interior. The main entry leads straight into the “community” area between the retailers and the bank. In contrast to the traditional colors typically seen in the banking community, the blue scheme with olive, yellow, and natural birch accents gives the entire concept a contemporary and “hip” feel while mahogany stained contemporary furniture provides classic elegance to the overall look. The convenient and comfortable lounge area encourages customers to linger.
This project was honored with a Silver Award from the Association of Licensed Architects and received the Best Collaboration Award from Independent Bankers Magazine.
Bailey Edward designed a large 20’ skylight in the center of the banking area which provides a significant architectural element that brings visual focus to the bank. It provides natural light and plays off of the central dome of the classic bank design. The use of open glass for the office spaces gives the sense that the bankers are part of the community and provides them oversight of all foot traffic.
