This 250 sqm three-storey apartment belongs to an important Indian family. The owner was not satisfied by the original layout and asked Area-17 for a more comfortable and modern space, airy and bright. The living area, designed to host party up to thirty guests, is crafted around the light pouring in from the floor to ceiling windows and enhanced by the whiteness of the interiors. The openings frame a beautiful view of the city, which the family members enjoy every day when they dine together. The rooftop terrace, organized in a lounge and a barbecue area, offers a possibly more stunning view.
The impressive custom-made walnut staircase solves a functional problem optimizing the connection between the first and the third floor, while it makes an aesthetic statement. Removing the original staircase also made room for an extra lounge, which also serves as guest room on occasion. Other custom-made pieces were designed to improve functionality, such as the colorful furniture in the kids’ bedroom and the grey boiseries that hide the storage. Decorated tiles, beautiful wallpapers, and many other original details reveal the owners’ style and personality, reinforcing the character of the spaces.
