Located at the edge of the town Gustavburg, in direct vicinity of the river Rheine, lays the new Penny supermarket.
A lightly curved wave lies on top of the market and forms an elevation in entrance-, cash till and bakery area.
This extra height brings to bear a quality that suits the specific functions of the market located under the waved roof construction. The entrance area is completely constructed with a mullion / transom façades that transports light deep into the cash till area.
The disposition of the wave signalises from a distance, it interprets in abstract manner to the flow of the nearby located river. Closer to the building the increased height points the visitor the position of the main entrance. The wave has an aluminium metal standing seam roof cladding.
The façade is covered with high-pressure-laminate panels in two differing grey tones. These two grey tones are shifted to generate a flux that simulates the flow of traffic that passes by.
