The WOHC’s goals included the development of an ambulatory centre, focusing on medical surgical clinics ambulatory surgery, chronic disease management, urgent care, complex continuing care beds and the neccessary diagnositic services to support this activity. The business case for the Wiliam Osler Health centre represents the rational for the preferred redevelopment for the Peel Memorial Hospital campus. The population of Brampton is expected to grow by 37% by 2024 increasing the demand for healthcare services. Three areas were focused on for the longer term vision of the site. These areas of focus will form three Centres of Excellence: Centre for Rehabilitation and Seniors Wellness, Centre of Community Mental Health and Addictions, Centre for Acute Care Services includes ambulatory surgery, urgent care, women’s and children’s services, chronic disease management and primary care. The master plan process involved the entire planning team in the assessment of different options. Parellel to the option development were the condition assessments of the existing Kennedy building and discussion with the city of Brampton on urban planning issues and opportunities. After the assessment of 15 scenarios four viable options for the redevelopment clearly emerged and then finally one option was selected. The prefered option includes all hospital programs/ services required for 2014/5 and a Family Health Team. In 2024/25, this option will require extension of the ambulatory block, and construction of a Medical Office Building to accommodate administration, and partner spaces decanted from the hospital to allow expansion of clinical services. In 2024/25 a parking structure will be required for the MOB and Expansion of Clinical services.
