Peek-a-Boo House acts as infill in an existing row-house community, the primary focus of the design is the poetics of light: how it marks passing seasons, weeks, the ebb & flow of life itself. The home is conceived of as an amplifier of the natural rhythms created by the qualities of light constantly in flux. The loft & second-level sleeping spaces face the rising sun with frosted glass that begins to glow a golden light & gently wakes the sleeping inhabitants. Ground floor dining spaces receives similar light, celebrating the otherwise common morning ritual of a family’s breakfast. Similar patterns are repeated with sunset: common areas, work spaces, and cleansing spaces now receive soft evening light before it begins to fade, urging the inhabitants again to sleep to begin the cycle anew the following day.
