The objective of the project was to create a space where children could relearn how to walk, balance and move freely. This privately funded project was developed on an exterior patio area on the 5th floor of the hospital building. A “racetrack” was painted on the rooftop for small children to use with peddle cars. Footprint paths of different strides have been incorporated with other play equipment to promote muscle development and coordination.
At one end, a basketball court has been enclosed with safety netting for older children to engage in more vigorous play. At the other end, younger children can exercise on a special swing and play equipment meant for climbing.
