The project is located in the main stream of Shenzhen’s Pingshan River. On the north bank were Pingshan Senior High School and the fengtian shiju traditional Hakka circular house. On the south bank was a residential, business and office district. Within a range of one kilometre, there was no bridge connecting the two banks. Urban life was extremely inconvenient. In accordance with the results of a Pingshan citizens’Internet referendum, the design ultimately adopted a Y-shaped flat layout, i.e., it was symmetrical in style and responded appropriately to the specific urban environment and access requirements of the north and south banks.
