An office refurbishment reveals a classic loft with fine exposed timber joists and the original steel columns brightly painted.
Behind the double height brickwork arches was a fine Victorian facade just off Farringdon Road in Clerkenwell, London. A tired office building interior had been subdivided and subdivided again for numerous offices layouts over the years and stripped the building of its character. To the rear was a terrace courtyard which was not utilised at all.
The building was stripped back to its original structure to reveal intact timber joisted floor and fantastic capped columns which had remnants of their original paint colour. The plasterboard was removed from the walls to expose a buff yellow brickwork and the office partitions were removed to provide an open plan office configuration on raised access floor.
The rear courtyard provided a new circulation stairwell and lift to service each new floor plate with a new mezzanine floor provided to the top floor. A classic loft office refurbishment.
