As part of the Pearl Brewery development, the client retained FPC to restore the exterior façade of the magnificent Brewhouse built before the end of the 19th century. The exterior restoration of the Brewhouse, completed in 2009, sought to return the exterior of the imposing 1894, multi-story, brick structure to its original appearance. The brick walls were cleaned, completely re-pointed, and damaged areas repaired. Damaged or missing wood doors and windows were repaired and replaced as necessary. Additionally, window and door trim and the distinctive metal mansard roof were repainted according to evidence from paint analysis and historic photographs. In conjunction with the exterior restoration of the Brewhouse, the adjacent brick smokestack was also restored. This included extensive cleaning of the exterior and interior, masonry repairs, and the installation of a stainless steel cap on the structure.
