f&b cc has been announced winner of the open competition for the rehabilitation of the Danube promenade in Bratislava.
The site is located between the university buildings on the edge of the historic city center, and the Danube.
The winning proposal consists in (re-)establishing a spatial continuity between the Danube and the city, as well as a rehabilitation of the distinct qualities of the different elements already on site: the flood protection wall, the slope of the building ramp, and the existing parking. The project transforms these elements into multi-functional and multi-faceted elements, creating a variety of situations and a new entrance zone for the university.
The promenade part is about 150m long and is the key area to link the new quarter of Eurovea to the Bratislava’s historic core. The project creates a waterbound zone for all-year temporary cultural and sports-related activities between the flooding wall and the bank.
The angle between this part, the bridge (“stary most”) and the new spaces oriented towards the city is emphasized with a terrace and a small café.
The project shall go towards realization soon.
