This pavilion was thought as a space of contemplation and reflection, that emerges from the abstraction of a collapse. The events that occurred on September of the last year shook the country in more than one way, and left a trail of loss, destruction, collapse and emptiness (physically and emotionally). But where is the trace of it? Did we forget it?
This ephemeral threshold seeks to answer this questions, that contains inside a perfect volume to a crater, our interpretation of the destruction because of the earthquakes. Perfect and orthogonal walls of brick contain an inverted vault inside a perfect volume, a concavity where the user in presented with four walls closed space without a cover where the reflection and the memories takes the starring role.
Everything will pass, nothing stays, not even the emptiness or the tragedy. From the conception of this hollow space, the idea of its transformation after fulfilling whith its porpuse, that was very important and immovable. The matter that today circumscribes the emptiness. The matter that today circumscribes the emptiness, tomorrow transmutes into an object that inhabits and lives, and vindicates the hope to leave behind the rubble.
We believe that the pavilion ( ), as a symbol, it is committed not only with and in the memory of the catastrophe and its perpetual echo, but also with the change.
As an analogy of the destruction, in its transformation it reverts the meaning of destruction to reconstruct the devastated space.
After his short life in Mextropoli 2018, pavilion ( ) will donate their bricks for the reconstruction of houses in the town of San Gregorio Atlapulco, in Xochimilco Mexico, serving those people whose craters still feel and live.
