Bygg Architecture has developed a patio house, together with contractor J. Lamers, which is the last house you’ll ever need! The single floor house provides all the needs of today and of tomorrow; also when the residents become less mobile. Although we have developed a single floor house, it is not a ‘bungalow’. We show that a single floor house provides opportunity to add spatial quality, by using height and roof shape. By adding sloped ceilings and light coming from above, we create a very comfortable living space with a unique architectural expression. It creates a roof line, which refers to industrial shed roofs, at the exterior. A single floor home has never looked so exciting.
A half open patio is surrounded by the main living areas, which connect to it and to the garden by large glass sliding panels. In this way the house perfectly fits on the plots available in Waterrijk, providing comfortable outdoor living, in peace and privacy.
