Following the major renovation of this modern house overlooking a leafy park, we designed 4 outdoor spaces for the residence: courtyard, balcony, front garden & roof terrace. Photos: Clive Nichols.
The courtyard is shaded, where white rendered walls increase light levels, featuring silver birches, Phormiums, mosses, bamboos & ferns. A bespoke waterfall offset to the right cascades via 3 tiers of stainless steel shelves into an infinity tiled pool.
The roof terrace houses a cedar hot tub, with a cedar arbour and slatted privacy screens. Enjoying much sun, the rooftop is home to Mediterranean plant species, from Lavenders & herbs to palm trees & Asclepias.
Beige tiles, slate capping, rendered walls, oak railings, diagonal balustrade uprights and stainless steel planters & lights are featured in all the outdoor spaces, producing modern architectural detail and adding unison.
The planting schemes in the balcony, roof terrace and courtyard merge into the lush parkland beyond, borrowing the landscape to add well-being in every vista.
