The
Street phenomenon is one of the most naïve and romantic topics in
architectural practice. Regarding the “Parkoran-C”
the designer reproduced this concept provocatively to provide an
alternative life style for the woman/man of modern era, who is more
isolated day after day. The balance between privacy and social
interaction is the key issue in this perspective.
The
design is composed of recreational green areas between 3 blocks in a
direct relation with the housing units and permeable passages between
the inner streets and out door spaces. Project has 38 units of 2+1
types and 78 units of 1+1 type housing. The main indoor circulation
is free of corridors of typical apartment blocks. It is full of well
balanced sun light, playing shadow games with planting. The air is
able to flow between floors to sustain natural ventilation. While
walking through this inner space, water sound enables to generate a
peaceful environment. Planting and material selections, provides
noise control through the galleria.
Housing
units designed in such a way that they are both isolated enough
regarding to the necessary privacy and close enough to articulate
inhabitants to common social area of interaction. Passages connecting
the out door recreational areas and the indoor common spaces side by
side with the street concept, generates a network that enriches the
pedestrian access to each and every zone of the settlement.
It
is about the possibility to read a book just one step away from your
home, while rain drops tickle to the glass roof over your head,
trough an early spring afternoon, a cup of coffee in your hand a nice
hello from a familiar face passing by. It is about dreaming of other
relations, other habits, rather then staying alone and watching TV
“Parkoran-C”
proposes spaces respecting the privacy of house and interaction
potential of public spaces.
