The Park House addresses generic and specific aspects of residential construction. The project massing addresses the adjacency to a city park and a steep slope across the site. The addition integrates the existing historic house and the site. As a generic approach to increase density without removing the historic fabric, the addition works within local zoning regulations to create an attached second residential unit allowing shared utilities. The addition defers to the historic house on the front and creates a private terrace. A car port and garage / workshop are slid under the new residential unit as the site drops away. One moves under the carport and up to the shared terrace as the building twists and bends overhead.
