This apartment is the gut-renovation of a small studio. The apartment owner is an art dealer; spaces were created with the intention of accentuating her collections. The main living space was opened to create spaciousness and to take advantage of the beautiful natural light. The pre-war apartment, with elegant iron windows and doors and beamed ceilings were maintained.
A lovely balcony overlooking the Empire State Building can be viewed from the entire apartment. The small kitchen was kept minimal in whites and greys; soapstone was used for the countertop and backsplash. The bathroom, though small, makes a big impact with the beautiful marble mosaic on the floor. A small bookcase built into the corner creates space for art books, displaying paintings (with pull out easels), and a media center.
