The 300 year old pre-famine farmhouse was in complete disrepair and close to being ruin. The original footprint of the 60 SqM was respected along with many elements of typical Irish vernacular. Since the existing area was insufficient for the required program it was decided that an 18 SqM enxtension would be required. This south facing glass box became a living room extension that would allow the occupants to take advantage of the beautiful Irish countryside and long summer days in terms of daylighting. White smooth render and metal standing seem roof make the predominant building envelope material.
