The
area of intervention concludes with the park and the churchyard, a general process of redevelopment of the Garden City based on a
linear urban structure formed in succession from the public library,
the stable and weekly market and City Hall. Redevelop
the park and the esplanade in front of the church meant to activate a
process of exploitation and social activities that previously were
limited to areas adjacent rehabilitated, creating a serious imbalance. The
church square was intended to provide public parking and the project
sought to restore the noble function that originally clothed in the
service of the church. The
first action was to the raised floor of the quota as a step to the
sidewalk to create a sort of basement emphasizing the sacred building
and overcome through the portions of surface steps and ramps. The
stone cladding used was also taken to the bonding area with the park in
front so as to create continuity through the influence of the share of
the churchyard and so on and on over the road until it reaches the north
side of Park St. Antonio. The
park is filled with an important device tree, sharpen its state of
disrepair with the surrounding context for the presence of a perimeter
fence and plant a spontaneous system of paths. "Open" area to the outside and create a coherent pedestrian was the main objective. In
lieu of visual barriers posed by hedge perimeter is positioned as the
main pedestrian road linking the north - south and east - west forcing
pedestrians to use the park even if only in passing. The
plank of wood for the paths has ensured the protection of the roots of
existing trees and in a sort of "fold", it resulted in a modular seating
system of different forms.
