“Focusing on the potential affectivity of civic-institutional space when calibrated by sitting, sight lines, and surface modulation, this project refined geometric articulations within a courtyard morphology that grafted the civic ecology of Kahn’s Rochester meeting house parti with the prospect and luminous potentials of the coastal sunset terrain. By formally refracting the courtyard into an outward rather than inward looking type, while incorporating many of its systems and service logics, the project embraced the challenge to engage the original Salk Institute without overt citations.”- Professor R. Svetz, “Select Work, Syracuse Architecture, Spring 2009”
