The needs of
this family for hanging out and have a great time at the exterior, are the
opportunity to create a new intervention that breaks the classical stylistic
conventions of the house. A tempted crystal cube, that seems to challenge the original
house, is used as a game area, bar, living room, terrace and some other
unsettled programs.
The intention
is to have a clear visibility from interior and exterior, also create an area
where social activity is the most
important thing. The new space uses floors and walls of natural stone and wood
to interact with the bricks of the original house. The cube´s roof it is also
use as a terrace that let you stay apart from all the activity at the pool.
The
constructive process is simple: two concrete slabs, make the cube´s floor and
ceiling with only a 6” tubular as a column. At the slab´s sides are attached
steel rivets that are used for tempted crystal´s support that divide the
exterior form the interior activity. Half of the crystal can be fold to create a
bigger space that interacts with the exterior and make the activity flow in a
reunion.
