A small residential project of about 100m2, to extend an existing family home. A row of single storey garages were demolished and replaced with a ground plus basement extension, with the rear of the house amended to open into the extended space. In reference to the brief and the clients profession, it was conceived as a mini theatre 'flytower' in the garden. The simple form is clad in reclaimed bricks which is 'pixelated' on the south (garden) elevation, shielding the space from excessive solar gain and enabling a dappled light which dances across the main space during the day. In the evening the balance of light changes and the life of the interior is 'projected' through into the garden through the pixelated brickwork screen.
