The American University of Armenia was founded in 1991. With a mission to create a new standard of education during a difficult time in Armenia’s history. With the establishment of the university, the AGBU Papazian Library was founded the same year. The library was named after the Papazian family, a generous benefactor of the American University of Armenia. The American University of Armenia’s educational standards and philosophy have distinguished it within Armenia, and this library serves as a testament to the university’s culture of transparency, innovation, and academic commitment. The open structure allows students to feed off of each other’s energy and encourages the development of campus culture. The renovated library does not only serve the AUA community, but also other students and scholars from various institutions in Armenia.
