Situated in the heart of Delhi in the vibrant Dhan Mill compound, the flagship store of Papa Don’t Preach is a wonderland of haute couture, melting the lines between fantasy, fashion, and architecture. Conceptualized by DesignHex, the space is more than just a store; it is a personification of the brand’s bold identity and whimsical design semantics.
With its otherworldly facade, the store captivates one’s attention from the outset. The architecture of the store pays homage to folkloric underwater kingdoms. The frontage of the store has been crafted from two tonnes of natural wood and features hand-carved lofty sculptural panels and CNC-cut creatures from the sea. Each element at the frontage of the store has been designed intentionally, keeping in mind the narrative of the brand. The colours of sage green and lavender bring out a shimmer in the daylight, rendering a fresh perspective. The facade for the store was completed in record 60 days and is completely in sync with Papa Don’t Preach’s spirit of visual drama.
Inside, the store arena transforms into a soft romance of a dreamscape. In soulful harmony with the brand’s store in Mumbai, the space offers a visual vocabulary of smoking pinks and blush tones. The inside doesn’t just complement the outside — it softens, cradles, and whispers secrets of style. The structural columns inside the store have been reinterpreted as majestic trees with the branches spreading out towards the ceiling in a visual metaphor for organic support and creative growth. The textured pink paint embraces these forms, adding character as well as a mellowness to the design narrative, and the floor features a patchwork of pink and white marble, occasionally interrupted by micro-concrete flourishes, introducing the requisite contrast.
Natural light is fundamental to establishing the store's unique atmosphere, where the expansive windows allow sunlight to play during the day. The gentle interplay of daylight and materials creates an enchanting illumination for the store, evoking wonder, warmth, and glamour.
The location of the store has also been tactically chosen. Dhan Mill, which was once a modest industrial outpost, has today evolved into one of Delhi’s most vibrant lifestyle hubs. Into this revitalized space strides Papa Don’t Preach — head high, heels higher — offering not just another flagship, but a landmark of design innovation. It stands confidently at the intersection of art and commerce, fashion and fantasy, nature and modernity. It is rebellious, radiant, and completely rooted in the ethos of a brand that has made colour its calling and couture its canvas.
The Papa Don’t Preach store is not just a shopping stop, but an experiential store blending fashion, fantasy, art, and nature for a one-of-a-kind retail experience.
