PANGOVILION is a nature-inspired pavilion created using modern technologies. The initial design idea is based on the pine cone form and element distribution logic. Later in the design phase, the design evolved and another inspiration from nature was implemented - the pangolin.
The pavilion consists of three main elements - vertical framing elements, horizontal framing elements (braces), and tiles. Every single element is unique. That is why it was crucial to use custom-made automation tools to create the manufacturing documentation. CNC laser machine was used for the model manufacturing to eliminate human error and save time and effort for more than 150 unique elements.
The workflow aims to show that complicated designs don't necessarily cost a lot and take a lot of time to manufacture and assemble. The 1:10 test model that we built proves we are right so far. We are looking forward to building a 1:1 scale pavilion with design at the beginning of the next year.
