The proposal originates from the understanding of the artisanal process of bread making and from valuing what was found on site, to be complemented with materiality and furnishing.
The honesty of bread making invited us to develop a proposal which responded to what was happening inside the kitchen, which for us meant to strip the walls to their core and to keep the original cement tiles which added identity and the typical colorfulness of the area. As complements, natural wood in the furniture, apparent concrete in the service bars and handmade clay lamps by a local artisan generate a warm atmosphere that’s distinctive of the space.
From outside, we tried to be unnoticed, blending in with the rest of the building and adding only a small black metallic sign announcing what lies inside and trying to integrate with the mystic neighborhood that greeted us as one of their own.
