This historic hotel’s renovation set out to restore the
glory of the original architecture, while updating and adding new
restaurants/bars to revive the space for it’s cliental. The original grand lobby cove lighting cold
cathode was replaced to brighten the decorative ceiling. The original
decorative fixtures were cleaned, revamped, and reconfigured to add down spots
to accent the walls. A new lobby bar
features glowing shelf lighting for the liquor bottles and grazing the fascia
with linear low voltage lighting highlighting the warmth of the interior
finishes.
The Grand ballroom was revamped as well, replacing the
original recessed halogen fixtures with dimmable compact fluorescent energy
efficient lamps. The decorative pendants and sconces were
cleaned and restored to their original beauty.
Recessed low voltage halogen adjustable accent fixtures were added to
illuminate the new draperies. All these
layers of light added to the richness and glory of the interior design.
Lockwood Restaurant was a new addition to the hotel which
tied together the original historical decorative ceiling elements and
decorative fixtures with new modern design elements. The chandeliers were wrapped with amber glass
and incorporated low voltage track lighting inside the shroud to accent the bar
top and seating area.
The main dining area incorporated recessed halogen
adjustable accents to highlight each table and countertop surface. A glamorous crystal low voltage track system
was used inside the coffered ceiling system giving a richness and warmth to the
space. Crystal sconces on the columns
added another layer to the lighting sophistication and beauty.
A soft uplight glow was created on the wall by using Architectural Cold Cathode behind the antique
mirror in the banquette seating areas. This brought a unique sense of depth and
focus to the dining area that was able to dim down and soften with the dimming
system as the evening progresses.
Potter’s lounge design intent was to bring glamour, style,
and tradition to the corner sports bar.
The glowing red and amber glass walls around the perimeter set the tone
and mood for the space. Images of the
performers from the historic Empire Room adorn the glass and are backlit with
rows of T5 staggered strip dimmable fluorescents. The rich wood tones in the tables are brought
out by low voltage accent lighting from the bronze tin ceiling above. The columns glow softly with accent lighting
from above and below.
Potter’s bar provides a dramatic edge to the hotel with the
glow of the backlit red header glass. It
is contrasted by the uplit liquor bottles and the warm glow of the bar
fascia. All three elements used dimmable
T5 fluorescent strips in the millwork.
The wood tones of the bar top and tables are accented by low voltage
downlights throughout the space, each fixture adjusting to the furniture
layout. The bar is a dramatic and
beautiful addition to the hotel that ties in modern design style with
traditional architecture.
