The new Palm Springs Animal control facility represents a unique partnership between the City of Palm Springs and the non profit Friends of the Shelter. Located on a 3 acre site across from the City's Demuth Part, this 21,000 SP project features a centralized indoor/outdoor kennel design with public adoption access provided within an open courtyard/garden setting. The facility includes secure animal contral work areas, separate public intake and adoption lobbies, a training room for educational and evening uses, a large canine socialization room, and a fully equipped clinic for in-house medical procedures- all housed within a desigh that reflects the regional character of the unique Palm Springs community. The project has been designed as an equivalent "sliver" LEED facility. Project bids were received in mid-February 2010 and came in $100,000 under budget.
