The brief called for a house that responded to the magnificent waterfront site overlooking Pittwater in the northern Sydney suburb of Palm Beach. A series of interlocking volumes was conceived that allowed visual and spatial connections throughout the house while still maintaining privacy when required. Sited on a steeply sloping block below the road level, the house is entered via an inclinator which leads to an internal bridge traversing the double height living space. Rooms are arranged around this space, each with a view across the water to the rugged bushland of Kuringai National Park.
