The museum is designed to be a work in progress on the studies in progress at the Centro Palladio: it has not its own collection, defining the subject as permanent, instead of the reading of its content, which is in constant evolution. This idea of institution, together with the fact that the visitor gets to know Palladio inside his own architecture, become a fundamental theme for the design of the museum.
The project shows a new center for interpretation and information about Palladio and his works on the ground floor, the ticket office, the book shop and the coatroom; on the piano nobile the most important five rooms host the exhibition while some temporary exhibitions can be found in another wing.
The museum is a place where it is told how Andrea Palladio managed to design, realize and communicate his works.
Thanks to the museum hardware, some scholars, gathered in the Centro Internazionale di Studi di Architettura Andrea Palladio, tell the visitors about their own investigations, while they are in progress: these investigations become the themes of the rooms, modified in the years according to a three-year programme.
The Palladio Museum shows Palladio’s original drawings, enriched with videos, multimedia, photographs and models, both physical and digital. This institution tries to protect the investigation along with the determination necessary to communicate it to a huge number of visitors. And it tries to do this throughout the fluidity and the adaptability of the backstage, throughout the classification and the dynamic archiving of the experiences and the social media.
