Designed by architect Enrico Pontello, the Palio del Golfo Artwork is a striking sculptural
monument that transforms La Spezia's maritime heritage into art. Thirteen radial oars made of blown stainless steel represent the villages of the Gulf of Poets, inspired by the regions annual rowing competition.
The artwork's radial design suggests motion and unity, with oars precisely arranged to create a dynamic visual experience. During the day, the steel surfaces shimmer with reflected light, while strategic evening illumination turns the monument into a luminous beacon.
Positioned near the Cathedral of Christ the King designed by Architect Adalberto Libera, the sculpture bridges maritime tradition and contemporary design. More than a memorial, it is a living artwork that captures the spirit of La Spezia's coastal community, blending architectural innovation with cultural storytelling.
