Introducing a warm cultural center within the city fabric of Ramallah. Creating a new medium of communication within the citizens, based on arts and cultural interests. This is mix of outdoor and indoor spaces, which suppose to contain different activities of show / share and learn.
The architectural language of the center, is an attempt to offer a new mixture of the vernacular architecture of Palestine, specially the the villa style of 50s in the city of Ramallah, which was developed after the rural simpler house, And the newly appearing architectural interventions in the city, described as having an international identity, or may be; without an identity.
The internal spaces of the project consists of show halls (internal ones; 1,150 square meters), administration (420 square meters), cafe (200 square meters), artistic educational center (850 square meters); classes, workshops, and a library. And in addition to the regular services spaces, there is a special storage zone.
The center allows the visitors, to have a look on the show halls contents, from outside, while also allowing them to explore the views of their city and beyond its skyline. The paths, bridges and balconies, serve also the public pedestrians, allowing them to move freely, horizontally and vertically above the roads connections (circle), inviting them to enter the center at the moment they feel to.
On 2006, the project was submitted in Birzeit University, to fulfill the requirement for graduation of the BSc in Architectural Engineering program. The project decisions, such as its location, program among others, were made after a detailed study of the related cultural and artistic scene in the city of Ramallah.
