This is a Palapa Sun Shade that was built using recycled lumber, landscaping refuse, and collected local stone, in a remote location in the Mojave Desert of CA. With no power to the site, it was built on-site by hand using a Japanese pull saw and a chisel and mallet to carve out its Mortise and tenon construction frame. The overlapping Palm thatch roof which is completely weatherproof, offers protection from the desert sun, and a welcome perch for various birds of prey.
