‘Waterfall’ is our envisaged experience, for a natural yet grand & refreshing moment of transition in this escalator void within the Pacific Place Shopping Centre. Elements of off-white ribbon, drapery forms are extracted from existing mall design. In this triple-storey space, the 2 set of escalators have different atmospheres – the bottom one is calm and decent with a waving curtain, while the upper one is powerful with a stretch of height and surprise with nature abstracted in stillness. It is a simple, total design to concentrate and give power, a timeless design that is to last for over a decade.
Maintenance-free and durability are key concerns for this area with much difficulty to access the walls and ceiling. Smooth and curved surface minimize horizontal planes to avoid trapping of dust. Painted GRG is used for its high-durability and maintenance free.
The ‘Waterfall’ is a moment of grandeur, of refreshness, in this escalator void transitioning from the mall foyer to a store, in one of the most prominent shopping malls of Hong Kong. Lines of scribbles generate the form, giving it life and energy. In this triple-storey space, the ‘Waterfall’ gives two levels of atmospheres – the lower level is calm and decent with a waving curtain, while the upper level is powerful with a stretch of height and surprise with nature abstracted in stillness.
