This project is designed to foster community interaction. Inspired by local vernacular architecture—the Mayan house—the design features a simple, linear, and continuous layout, unified by a single slab that emphasizes the building’s horizontality. This approach achieves a harmonious fusion between contemporary architecture and traditional forms.
The spatial program is organized by the age of its users through three rings that reinterpret traditional albarradas (dry stone walls). These rings interact with the main roof, creating intuitive access points and a natural flow of movement throughout the site.
Strategically cut on the diagonal, these elements create openings that frame specific views while managing privacy and security for the interior. Crowning the building, a lightweight roof—a traditional palapa—shelters the central multi-functional space.
The material palette is intentionally simple: the primary volumes are cast in concrete, surrounded by local natural stone, and topped with a mixed-structure roof composed of a white metal frame and traditional thatch.
Un espacio diseñado para promover la vida en comunidad. Inspirado en la arquitectura vernácula local, la casa maya; presenta un esquema sencillo, lineal, consecutivo y continuo, unificado por una losa que enfatiza la horizontalidad del edificio. Esto logra una fusión armoniosa entre la arquitectura contemporánea y las formas tradicionales.
Los usos del espacio se organizan según la edad de los usuarios, a través de tres anillos que reinterpretan las albarradas tradicionales. Estos anillos interactúan con la cubierta principal, creando accesos y un tránsito natural.
Cortados de manera diagonal, generan aperturas, resaltan las vistas, a la vez que controlan la privacidad y la seguridad del interior. Coronando el edificio, una cubierta ligera, una palapa tradicional, alberga el espacio multifuncional central.
La paleta de materiales es sencilla: una volumetría mayormente en concreto, rodeada por elementos de piedra natural de la región, y una cubierta mixta compuesta por estructura metálica blanca y paja.
