This project is an experiment in re-imagining what a contemporary suburban home can be. Situated between the urban city and the rural forest, the home is influenced by both conflicting conditions. Influenced by urban archetypes of form and materials, the program is divided into nodes; with dominance on the social nodes (kitchen and great room) the house becomes the host of the party while the private nodes are found intimately orientated above. Backing onto a rural forest, floor-to-ceiling glazing is implemented to bring the landscape in. Through the placement of windows, views are selected to create the illusion of complete isolation, achieving a harmony between urban and rural.
