The basic design principles behind the
creation of the ‘Oya’ brand clinics is based on the idea that the brand upholds
– the highest quality, most progressive and natural weight-loss treatment for
the modern day person. The treatment is not just simply quick and efficient but
is healthy and seeks to achieve perfection in body and mind. It is more than
weight loss, it is a better way of approaching your health and attitude towards
your daily goals.
The design concept and experience was formulating
on the following conceptual ideas: Change and Transformation, Lightness and Minimalism (Elegant Coolness), Natural Essence, Sense of Youthful Positivity, High-Tech.
Change and Transformation
This part of the concept is based on
making the experience of the space identify with the brand concept. A constant
state of change and transformation must always be felt. It is expressed through
silent organic like spaces which is achieved by making the direction or shape
of one wall different from the other. This continuously allows the spaces to
give the essence that it is in motion, almost sculpturing and carving its way
through as you walk through the space. Rarely are there sharp corners, must be
generally chamfered curved corners and walls changing angles and direction. Not
one space should be like the other. They must feel somewhat different in shape
yet have atleast one similar wall to make a visual connection. This emphasises
a depth to the precision of the space. Constant random grooves embark on
sculpturing the shape of the walls for the human eye even further when met with
light (natural and/or artificial lighting).
Lightness and Minimalism (Elegant
Coolness)
This achieved by clean cut lines
throughout the spaces. Even though the spaces are curved and constantly in
transformation state, the expression of the walls and ceilings are clean smooth
surfaces with grooves to express the shape and simplicity of the design.
Lightness is achieved by having different indirect points and lines of the
artificial light. They are to give the effect of lightness of the space and to
make all spaces and connections between walls and ceilings floating in harmony
with each other.
Natural Essence
Water, Earth and Nature. Even though
the organic shapes of the spaces are already an expression of the natural
essence of the brand, there are key feature elements that need to be expressed
in small abstract ways to express the connectivity to the natural way of the
brand.
Water
is expressed through the moulded textured tempered glass which gives a
wonderful expression of water and flow. When applicable, the entrance should
have a water fountain flow along the feature back wall of the lobby where the
logo is first seen.
Earth
is expressed through the natural stone feature walls of the lobby and reception
wall using natural stone tiles of various thicknesses to express the depth and
richness of nature in the space.
Nature
will naturally be expressed through the use of indoor plants where applicable.
Sense of Youthful Positivity
This is already expressed the
dynamic lines of spaces itself. Also added to that is the expression of the
furniture as well and colours. The dynamic structure and playfulness of the
furniture is an inherent part of the design which brings out a youthful
emergence of the design. Dynamic playful forms are key to expressing this sense
of energy. Combined with the LED mood light system to be incorporated into all
rooms where colours of light can be adjusted to suit various moods grasps to
that spirit of the new age where spaces are tailored to suit the user rather
than the other way round.
High-Tech
The high-tech experience of the
‘Oya’ brand clinics is not to be seen but experienced. The LED mood light systems
that are to be applied in walls and mainly ceiling as indirect lighting
systems, will be the main characteristic for the high-tech expression of the
spaces. Mood lighting will allow for the possibility of various moods and
experiences in choices of colour and light intensity for the user while
undergoing their treatment.
The
use of Ipads will be a clear indicator of the new age approach. Ipads will be
used in the treatment rooms by staff to show illustrations and technical data
to clients on their treatment plan. Ipads are to be used in the waiting lounge
area, placed on the coffee tables to allow clients to view introductions and illustrations
of the ‘Oya’ brand experience. Programs will be made to give clients a thorough
insight into the treatment options and plans they would like to undertake.
