This installation takes on the most basic architectural element, the wall. A wall separates, it divides inside and out, your land and my land, this place and that – it’s the archetype and physical manifestation of the boundary between two places. Over the Line undermines this premise by proposing a wall that does not divide, sets no boundary, and creates no separation. While present, it remains a simple yet captivating background. This 140ft long translucent wall meanders on an open field with its undulating surface dramatically changing in the light urging visitors to weave and wander through the site.
"Over the Line" is on view for two years at Art OMI in upstate New York as part of series of commissioned interventions taking on the fundamental elements of architecture.
