The campus expansion, which includes 95,600 gross square feet of new building construction and 7,500 square feet of landscape design, is intended to establish a greater institutional identity for Otis. It provides more campus life and a stronger creative culture for its students by creating a physical environment that reaffirms the College’s pedagogical vision. The architecture energizes the campus by encouraging physical and visual connections between buildings, collaborative learning and the cross-pollination of disciplines. The smallest details of color and pattern have also been introduced strategically in ways that help tie elements together, creating a sense of place and community that reflect Otis’ quirky and playful character as a creative arts school.
