Óticas Minho is an Optician shop located in Braga, one of Portuguese youngest and biggest towns in Northern Portugal. The shop has been established for 12 years on one of its main commercial streets, easily acceded by public transports. Our clients asked for a new ‘outfit’ for their shop that could communicate an image of modernity both from the exterior and from the interior. Their goal was to attract new customers but also to keep the quality of service that makes previous customers loyal.
To meet these expectations, we conceived our proposal as a black box with white notes wherever focus was needed. Therefore, the key element is a big white counter, a unique half-circle that pulls customers in, where trained professionals can give them adequate advice. This counter, despite being a single element, has three separate areas – a higher one for quick-attendance and two lower ‘desks’, where seated and more personal attendance can take place.
On the black walls, white shelves illuminated with RGB lights give products the spotlight needed. Ten black mannequin faces aligned under the shop’s name written in three-dimension letters work has an exhibitor of the latest trends or the new shop arrivals on the main wall.
This black-and-white contrast allows visual focus for products and reaches potential customers passing on the street who can easily recognize the shop’s products. The glass ‘façade’ makes the shop transparent and invites people to enter.
