SITUATION. The area of the Ostertor gallery
is located in connection to the historic old town of Bad Salzuflen, directly to
the former city wall - the Ostertor.
In 2004 began the first drafts, which then
led to a concrete planning phase. The entire area covers, square after purchase
of more land, about 8,000m2. The motto was to find a just solution to the
district for this area. Thus, in May 2007 started construction and in late May
2008 could be opened the Ostertor Gallery.
The challenge was partly due to the
inclusion of the volume in the historic town, on the other hand, the
integration of various functions in one complex. Thus Ostertor Gallery houses today
in an area of approximately 10 650 square meters a supermarket, a 4 * hotel
with 190 beds and an underground parking garage, a convention center, a
restaurant, the city library as well as various retail spaces and offices.
ARCHITECTURE. The developed cubature with
two parallel bars allows optimal exposure of the hotel rooms and offices, and
encloses a spacious courtyard.
The construction used in this warm shades
radiate in combination with sophisticated materials and light modernity and
comfort of both. Probably the most defining material of the sandstone facade.
The characteristic structure as townscape
object should improve the further development of the town of Bad Salzuflen.
