Located on a restrictive corner lot in the Village of East Hampton, building is completed, and landscaping underway. The design objective was to create a warm modern aesthetic within the vernacular of the Hampton shingle. The result was a complete transformation from the poorly built existing house to a “clean” and affordable beach house that includes a pool and pool house. Private spaces occupy the existing footprint in the form of an articulated gable connected to a proposed open and public “tower” with adjacent accessory structures. Together the geometric forms in their modern and traditional style create dynamic interior and exterior spaces. The material palette consists of subtle and warm natural tones including stained cedar shingles, ipe plank, and light hued stucco, bluestone and copper.
