OS House, San Angel, 1997The OS house is situated south of
Mexico City in San Angel in an area that used to be an orchard
outside the city.
The house is formed by a private
concrete block containing the kitchen and bathrooms, which open towards private courtyards in the inside. This block is
surrounded by a transparent box, which wraps itself containing the
dining room and main bedroom in the first floor with a second
room and studio in the upper floor. The compact linear form of the
house leaves the landscape area free for two patios, which is the main idea of the
project.Between both external spaces, a suspended glass box contains the
living room.
The two patios are differentiated by
their vegetation and landscape. In the back a forest of existing
fraxinus americana, mixed with different type of
palms and ferns. In the front an ?orchard? of citric trees,
combined with the existing prune and apple tree create a humid patio
under the living room terrace.
