The installation explores the
potential of a pleated shell to become kinetic, achieving variable envelope
configurations. The prototype is fabricated in corrugated cardboard and duct
tape. Based on a symmetric fishbone pattern, the shell is cohesive and self-supporting.
Form-finding is introduced as collective play within a small group. There are
two noteworthy limits in this indeterminate series of transformations: flat
packaging that allows transportation to location and enfolding that produces a
minimum inhabitable capsule. In between, play constantly affects the animated
envelope, informing and deforming it.
