In this project, the outdoor space is used as a tool to unify and define the interior space. A sense of publicity is created through the degree visibility of the outside community. The public space within the structure has more views of the exterior than the private space. To accommodate for the client’s orchid hobby, I developed three orchid “walls” that run the height of the three main living floors and are encircled by the stairs. The idea was that the stairs would become a method of interaction between the client and the orchids.
