Kierland Center is a 21st century urban solution to residential design located in Scottsdale, Arizona. With innovative planning, the site design achieves a remarkable 70% open space at grade level with all parking below grade. The result is a beautifully landscaped, park-like setting with five buildings of luxury residential units on the 9.5 acre site. Each building is carefully integrated to the site to achieve awe-inspiring views within the complex and to the mountains beyond. The theme of openness continues as the first floor of each building features floor to ceiling glass and deep overhangs, creating the effect of glassy pavilions in the park-like setting.
The dynamic, undulating façade with perforated panels and sunscreening louvers creates shade and shadows, voids and textures, punctuated by the desert sun. The desert sun is effectively filtered with strategically placed louvers and curved, perforated panels in front of the floor to ceiling glass. The result is an uplifting effect of filtered sunlight to the open living spaces, enhancing a sense of well-being. Each residence is interconnected to the outdoors with large terraces. All terraces are unified by an innovative vertical landscaping system with drip irrigation and features native plants.
