Under the new construction reality in emerging countries of southern Africa, like Angola or Mozambique, the cultural contexts has been growing rootless giving the high level of international construction recently implemented. The project aims to respond to the lack of relationship between the local people and the new infrastructure that support those communities.
I intend to implement a patio and pavilion, motivating outdoor experiences, as a way to create neighborhood references that had been lost with the new buildings, mostly designed by international teams without a great local concern. The house consists of two bodies, one private and the other social, mediated and served by a central courtyard .
The patio is an activity generating element. Two gates enclose it on the tops and allow, when replicated, the house to be shared also duplicating the yard. At the same time it links to public space. The house can evolve and serve for larger families and maintain its spatial configuration.
