OPERA169 IS AN INNOVATIVE AND SUSTAINABLE RESIDENTIAL BLOCK IN MANHATTAN
ADAT Studio presents Opera169, a six-story residential building in Washington Heights, Manhattan. The new project for Harrest in the green and historic neighborhood of New York maximizes outdoor spaces and promotes a sense of belonging.
The six-story volume on 169th Street, with its geometrical lines and brick facades, respects the material palette of the urban context. A thoroughly studied layout for every level allows for optimizing the plot's usage and maintaining a green backyard as the outdoor extension of the basement unit. Storage rooms in the cellar provide extra space for every apartment, eight in total, while a shared lobby becomes an occasion to meet with the neighbors.
“We thought of a building that could promote a new way of living, designed to connect the
residents with their green and historic neighborhood. Thanks to the enhancement of outdoor
spaces and its environmental and energy efficiency, Opera169 is intended to be a model of
integration between inside and outside: a new urban residential experience in Manhattan fostering human interaction for a better quality of life", explain Antonio and Andrea.
True to the principles of their work, based on integrated design and focussed on wellbeing and sustainability, ADAT Studio has proposed private balconies for all units. These activate the rear of the building and its street front, fostering the interaction between the inhabitants and the urban context.
The highlight of the shared facilities of Opera169 is the communal roof terrace (740 SF).
Green roofs are a nature-based solution that can help to shape a more resilient and equitable urban environment. If effectively designed and sited, they can improve stormwater resiliency, filter air pollution, moderate extreme heat, decrease carbon emissions, create more biodiversity and provide new recreation spaces.
Opera169 by ADAT Studio for Harrest, an international real estate development company, is a residential building with a human scale that respects the vocation for green spaces of the
neighborhood and answers to the needs of a post-pandemic society, ever more conscious about the value of social interaction and direct contact with nature:
“At Harrest, we believe that projects are not just investments and returns: communities and the environment must be protected and promoted through social responsibility, sustainability, diversity, respecting the rules and working together towards common objectives. Opera169 embodies all these values and visions,” says the company's president, Ferruccio Sbarbaro.
Currently under development; the completion is expected in 2024.
