spring
Spa is Belgian
word for hot water and today it represents professional care and
preservation of beauty and health in
completely natural way.
In ancient Greece there were thermal bathrooms
TERMAE consisting different contents / sports, restaurants, baths/. Japan had
Turkish like bathrooms, as well as Zen gardens. But, the real expansion of spa
centers begins in 20th
century in America.
Organization of inner yards became priority.
Ambient spaces for human joy exits as natural oasis surrounded with all the
contents of spa: MASSAGE, JYM, SOLARIUM, GAMES ROOM, RECEPTION ZONE, with bar,
television and music.
ONSEN/ hot spring/ Japanese/ represents free
positioned composition closer to southern side. That way part of the yard stays free for aerobic, fitness,
relaxation. Center of composition is pool, Jacuzzi with fountain partly covered
by iron construction and greenery, and Japanese cherry.
Japanese cherry/ Prunus serrulata/ typical for Japan, Korea and China. Its low
tree/ 8-12m /with white or pink blossom. Ever since Heian period /794-1191./
dates tradition of following cherry blossom during first few days in April.
Cherry blossom has many symbolic meanings in Japan: it represents the beauty
of the moment, it’s a symbol of a runnability of everything, youth,
life.
Simple lines and contrast in colors, materials
and greenery should bring the feeling of peace.
Floor in dark gray ceramics expands effect of
cherry blossom in spring while the sound of water completes the experience visually
intensified with ambient lights in the pool.
Concept/ two squares rotated both horizontally
and vertically and cut with curved line representing the main communication.
Floor pattern created the pool with iron
construction above, fountain/in stone/, wooden benches slopping to water level
and planting boxes. Curved lines exist on one more spot in the yard/ defined by
spots of four more cherry trees positioned to make the accent on entrances. Except
cherry, there is one more traditional element. Iron construction is shaped as
origami scheme. Traditionally, origami is made out of square peace of paper,
following diagrams for different shapes.
The young trees could be replaced after few
years with new ones, and the existing trees could be refreshment in hood parks.
